Mechanical Engineer – Transformer Design
Responsibilities:
1. Design and Development:
- Develop mechanical designs for electrical transformers, including core, coil, tank, cooling systems, and other structural components.
- Utilize CAD software (such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar) to create detailed and accurate 3D models and technical drawings.
2. Analysis and Testing:
- Perform mechanical analysis and calculations to ensure the structural integrity and performance of transformer components.
- Conduct simulations and finite element analysis (FEA) to evaluate the mechanical behavior under various conditions.
- Support prototype development and testing to validate designs and identify areas for improvement.
3. Collaboration:
- Work closely with electrical engineers, design engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure integrated and optimized transformer designs.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.
4. Standards and Compliance:
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and client specifications.
- Keep abreast of changes in codes, standards, and regulations related to transformer design and manufacturing.
5. Documentation:
- Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of designs, including drawings, specifications, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and revision histories.
- Provide technical documentation and support for manufacturing, assembly, and quality assurance processes.
6. Quality Assurance:
- Conduct design reviews and perform quality checks on mechanical designs to identify and correct errors or discrepancies.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for design-related issues.
7. Project Management:
- Assist in project planning and coordination, including estimating timeframes, resource needs, and project milestones.
- Track project progress, manage timelines, and ensure deliverables meet deadlines.
8. Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in transformer design and manufacturing processes.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies, materials, and methods applicable to transformer design.
Qualifications:
1. Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
2. Experience:
- Proven experience as a mechanical engineer, preferably in the transformer or electrical equipment industry.
- Experience in mechanical design and analysis, with a focus on transformer components.
3. Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to transformer design.
- Experience with mechanical analysis tools and simulation software (e.g., FEA).
