Power Transformer Design Engineer – Electrical Engineering
Job Description:
1. Design and Development:
- Design and develop power transformers with a minimum rating of 133KV, including core, winding, insulation, tank, and cooling systems.
- Utilize design software and CAD tools (such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or specialized transformer design software) to create detailed electrical and mechanical drawings.
2. Technical Analysis and Calculations:
- Perform electrical calculations to determine transformer specifications, including voltage levels, current ratings, impedance, losses, and thermal performance.
- Conduct simulations and finite element analysis (FEA) to evaluate the electrical and thermal behavior of transformer components.
3. Standards and Compliance:
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards (e.g., IEC, ANSI/IEEE), safety regulations, and client specifications.
- Stay updated on changes in codes, standards, and regulations related to transformer design and manufacturing.
4. Prototyping and Testing:
- Develop prototypes and oversee testing to validate designs, including short-circuit, temperature rise, dielectric, and noise tests.
- Analyze test results and implement necessary design modifications to meet performance and reliability criteria.
5. Documentation:
- Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of designs, including drawings, specifications, BOMs (Bill of Materials), test reports, and revision histories.
- Provide technical documentation and support for manufacturing, assembly, and quality assurance processes.
6. Collaboration:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, manufacturing engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure integrated and optimized transformer designs.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure the quality and timely delivery of transformer components.
7. Quality Assurance:
- Conduct design reviews and perform quality checks on electrical designs to identify and correct errors or discrepancies
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for design-related issues.
8. Project Management:
- Assist in project planning and coordination, including estimating timeframes, resource needs, and project milestones.
- Track project progress, manage timelines, and ensure deliverables meet deadlines.
9. Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in transformer design and manufacturing processes.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies, materials, and methods applicable to transformer design.
Qualifications:
1. Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
2. Experience:
- Proven experience as an electrical engineer, preferably in the power transformer industry.
- Experience in designing and distribution transformers with ratings of at least 33KV.
- Familiarity with electrical, thermal, and mechanical design principles specific to high-voltage transformers.
3. Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in design software and CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or specialized transformer design software).
- Strong understanding of electrical design principles, power distribution, insulation materials, and transformer components.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to transformer design.
- Experience with analysis tools and simulation software (e.g., FEA, electromagnetic simulation).
